Room Project
I believe that this last project was certainly the most fun to complete. It consisted of choosing a artist for inspiration and a nature object. The artist that I chose was Claude Monet, and the nature object; which I am hoping is pretty obvious is the lily pad. The idea was first to study the lily pad and to do a few hand sketches of it (those are represented in the upper left hand corner). Then, I had to come up with a few 2-D modules for the project. Unfortunately, my 2-D models were not too great. I had a difficult time thinking in the abstract, but after a while I got it down and made my abstract room. I made the room out of Styrofoam and felt to give it a soft appearance. One of the last steps was to make the poster for the room. I really liked how my poster turned out. If I were to do this project over again I would probably make some of the writing and images smaller so that I would have room for more images.

Resume
Creating a Resume
This project was a lot of fun to do, and it can be helpful for anyone. This Resume was created in the In-design program. One thing I would like to improve is the green font is slightly hard to read while printed. It would have been a lot better if I used a little bit of a darker font. Another object I should have changed, is the logo. I should have made the logo a little bit smaller. I tried to add on a background image to appear behind the font, but I could not quite figure out how to make that happen, but hopefully that is a skill I will master soon. I do love the color scheme from the Resume and how the lay out look. It was a great project to do, and it is good to know when it is time to apply for jobs I have a resume all ready for the job searching process.

The Last Sketch
This Sketch deals with drawing with line weights and positive/negative space. The one on top is a sketch using different line weight; while the drawing on bottom plays with the negative and positive spaces.

Negative space chair and doorknob
The sketch on top is a sketch of a chair, where the main focus is shown as negative space.
The bottom picture is a sketch of a door knob. This sketch is drawn on black paper and has been colored in with colored pencils.

Creating a Logo
Creating a Logo
This project was based on creating a logo for my initials: NCH. I started out by doing a few rough sketches of what I wanted the design to look like, and pretty quickly I decided that I wanted a more simple design that would consist of thin letters and loopy endings. After playing around with Adobe Illustrator, I realized that some strategic splashes of color would really brighten up my logo. At first, I started out with just the N and H right next to each other without being lined up, but I discovered if I hooked the two loops together it would create a C; which is my middle initial. I went with the light blue and green, and the neutral brown to give the logo a beach/ outdoors feeling. This project was a lot of fun! I had a wonderful time playing around with a sketch pad; which makes drawing designs out on the computer a whole lot easier.
